This book happened upon me at a crucial time in my life. It’s a large body of work around the topic of surrender and can be a helpful companion while navigating those trying moments in life. It was interesting because I took this book on my trip to Cuba with some girlfriends. Little did I know that the Universe would present me with ongoing opportunities to practice the art of “surrendering” during my escape. From my girlfriend losing her wallet, to our flights not connecting and the weather being awful the entire stay.
I call it an “art” (technical skill) because its not easy living and breathing during extreme emotional pain, which is what I was living with during this time. It takes gumption to walk the path without medicating and throwing oneself in avoidance measures to hide from the pain. Dr.Judith Orloff provides plenty of ideas to assist those who find themselves in similar situations.
Here’s a few chapters the author also covers: Seeing beyond material seduction and fear, How to experience radiant aging, and Making peace with death.
Whatever it is that you may be experiencing and going through, know that you are not alone. I can help.
