Amazon explains it best, “A Course in Miracles” is a complete self-study spiritual thought system. As a three-volume curriculum consisting of a “Text”, “Workbook for Students”, and “Manual for Teachers”, it teaches that the way to universal love and peace through forgiving others. The Course thus focuses on the healing of relationships and making them holy.
The “Text” presents the theory of the Course and has built into its study the development of the experience of forgiveness that is the Course’s goal for the student.
The “Workbook for Students” includes 365 lessons, one for each day of the year. It begins the process of changing the student’s mind and perception, though it is not intended to bring one’s learning to completion.
The “Manual for Teachers” is written in question-and-answer form and provides answers to some of the more likely questions a student might ask. Also included are Supplements to the Course: “Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process and Practice” and “Song of Prayer”
I personally have been studying this course on and off for the last several years with a book club. I have discovered that some of the daily lessons offer a powerful message that keeps me anchored in the present moment. Lessons like, ” I do not perceive my own best interests” and “I do not know what anything is for.” These lessons assist me in letting go and accepting “what is.” This course is here to help us release the trappings of the “ego self” and bring us more into alignment with our “authentic self.” If you’re looking for inner peace, this is the book to get you there but make no mistake, it will require discipline, perseverance and an open mind.
Note, this book was sitting on my lap when my motor vehicle accident happened on April 29th. My twin sister was driving, I was sitting passenger side and my young niece and nephew were in the back seat. We were travelling 110km per hour down the highway when she lost control of her vehicle. We flipped two and a half times. Everyone walked away alive and the only injury sustained was to my right hand. Though I never experienced pain like this in my life, I am happy to be alive.
I can’t help to think a true “Miracle” did take place on that day!
